Description

Jan 28 - 1926

We had heard and

read much about this

Sahara Desert stretch and

the 6 1/2 mi of plank road on

which the traveller crosses

it. During the winter this

sand stretch was sold for

poring to someone in Phoenix.

How the sand will be kept

from it I do not guess -

At short intervals there were

passing places, some of them

long enough for four cars,

and all were marked as the photo

shows, with a post topped

with an old tire.

The other deserts we had seen

have vegitation, but this is a

taste of the Sahara Desert.

The camera really failed

to show how mountanious

the sand is in places.

All hills and hollows, and

lots of flowers growing along the

road in places. When we'd pass

someone I'd gather flowers.
