Description

Mrs Hatchard joined us

in Phoenix about Jan.

14 - (1926) Soon after she

came we joined Mr and Mrs

Will Perry and family, his

father, "Stace" Perry, of Croton, O

and his aunt Mrs Rice, of Mich,

and drove across the desert

folling a canal most the

way, after

toward Mt McDowell that old

pile of red, red rocks. so

conspicuous an obj for miles,

and miles about Phoenix and other

Salt Riv, Valley towns, to Fort

McDowell- This is now an

Apache Indian Res., tho quite

a number of the government

buildings are still is use.

It was here that Uncle Sam had

his last fight with the Apaches,

clearing up the latter, so now

quite a few are living in their

shacks in this Res.

We saw five specimens of mesquite

trees going here. Returning we visited

Dam - and drove home across the

desert.
